15 Inspiring Uses of the Color Venetian Canal

15 Inspiring Uses of the Color Venetian Canal
by Team KREATIVE //
August 27th, 2014

If you’ve been following us on Facebook, Pinterest or Twitter, we hope you've enjoyed our posts featuring different colors that inspire us and our work. We’ve loved hearing about how they make you feel and what images they bring to your minds, and in this week’s color blog, we’re excited to further explore the soulful teal we call "Venetian Canal."

Venetian Canal aka Teal, Aqua, Turquoise

As the name we picked suggests, Venetian Canal is a color reminiscent of the enchanting blues and greens of soothing streams, therapeutic waters, and ethereal skies. “I love this color!” shared Jan Addams ‏@imagetointerior on Twitter. “[i]t evokes a feeling of calmness and relaxation.” In color psychology, the soft, sophisticated teal is tied to healing, emotional balance, and the ability to provide clarity, concentration and restoration amidst times of stress. In marketing, branding, and everyday life, it’s no wonder the subdued blue green color is used by many of the individuals, services, and spaces we turn to for rest, repose, and clarity.

Find yourself drifting away just thinking about Venetian Canal? Already pondering how you might be able to incorporate the sophisticated serenity of soft teal into your own life or identity? Just read on for a mesmerizing look at how a number of different individuals and companies have used teal in their own branding, website designs, product packaging and interior décor to surround themselves with just the right balance of composure and calm all day long.

Branding

1. Colour Theory //

A company in the business of giving color advice, Colour Theory’s use of teal in their logo and branding is no mistake. Tied to the residential half of their business, the calm blue green reflects the just the atmosphere of relaxation, repose, and rejuvenation most of us desire in the space we call home.

2. Hotel Azul //

Although Azul, a designer hotel and gallery in Oaxaca, Mexico, isn’t on the coast, the teal green of their logo, covering their exterior walls, and on their in-room stationary and toiletries evokes such a sense of water, their identity becomes that of a mountaintop oasis that will both relax the soul and stimulate the spirit.

3. Nutritionist //

Subtle and welcoming, the teal that registered nutritionist Lindsay Stoulil uses in her branding immediately separates her business from unpleasant procedures and intense, distant professionalism often tied to medical fields and instead portrays her and her services as perceptive, therapeutic, and relaxing.

4. Turner Classic Movies //

In their recent rebrand, Turner Classic Movies traded their more exclusive black and burgundy color palette for a logo, website, and on air look dominated by the color teal. In doing so, they literally refreshed their entire image, portraying themselves as a more welcoming and nostalgic classic cinema destination for a wide range of modern audiences, rather than just serious cinephiles.

5. Black Light //

Although Black Light’s strong, sophisticated brand features primarily black and white design, the one color they use in their company logo and branding is teal. Reflecting a cool confidence and composed calm, their use of the serene blue green tells us that they will not only deliver professional service, but do so with friendliness and ease.

Website Design

6. Prive Salon & Spa //

Although Prive Salon & Spa’s modern, urban persona is evident throughout the imagery and design of their website, their use of teal as a text color on almost all of their pages and the primary background color on their spa page ensures that customers also see them as a space for therapeutic escape and serenity.

7. ItsGoodToTalk.org.uk //

On this public resource site hosted by the British Association for Counseling & Psychotherapy, the use of light blue green across their entire website creates an enveloping sense of welcome, calm, and knowledgeable professionalism. By pairing teal with other soft pastels, the overall site comes off as especially soothing and appropriate for the topics it addresses.

8. Poogan’s Porch //

For this established, gourmet restaurant in Charleston, South Carolina, the teal background of their website not only matches the coastal ease of their building’s soft yellow paneling; it creates a persona for the restaurant that is sophisticated and refined and as well as relaxed, nostalgic, and warmly welcoming.

9. Baker Odds & Ends //

Although Baker Furniture’s main website features a sleek black and white design that reflects their place as a designer furniture manufacturer and retailer, their discounted floor sample website adds teal to the mix, retaining a sense of composure and sophistication while also making “Odds & Ends” a more accessible and inviting pathway to transforming your personal space.

10. House Advertising Agency //

For companies who want to portray themselves as professional yet friendly, established and also perceptive, teal is a color that is up to the task. For House Advertising, the subdued blue green used throughout their site does just that while also cementing their self-proclaimed identity as a company centered, first and foremost, on honesty, integrity, and transparency.

Packaging

11. Buff Cuff //

Although exercise is often seen as a strenuous chore, the Buff Cuff is all about seamlessly incorporating it into daily life. Using teal as the color of the bracelet as well as all over their packaging, the look communicates exactly what the product is about—physical balance and invigoration that is simple, streamlined, easy and enjoyable.

12. Teal Cup Tea //

A coffee shop founded on sustainability, Teal Cup’s use of the color teal in their product packaging not only ties to their name, it supports their image as a company committed to promoting harmony and balance both with their environment and through their products.
